A Sanctuary For The Curious, The Restless, And Those in Search of Calm.

  • Retreat

Designed by Swedish architect Inger Thede, this is a quiet home on a hilltop in the presence of tall Himalayan peaks. For a part of the year, it serves as a private retreat for travellers who value thoughtful design, meaningful experiences and the rare luxury of stillness. Four thoughtfully designed bedrooms, forest-framed verandahs, a sauna, a study lounge, and a kitchen built for shared meals and long conversations invite you to tune into your inner space.

The house sits within an acre of farm forest, surrounded by the mighty Himalayan mountains and nearby villages. Large windows frame the Himalayan landscape, drawing the seasons and the sky into every room. The interiors are quiet and grounding, made from Himalayan red cedar, golden slate, lime walls, linen and wool. Nature is not an accent but a constant presence. Heated floors and a solar-powered sauna keep the house comfortable through snow, rain and sun. A fire in the hearth and the scent of pine make long evenings feel warm and familiar.

Other things to note
Please note that the property is a 20 min hike from the road head through a village path covered with oaks and rhododendrons. Our staff will help carry luggage. If you don’t enjoy walking on mountain paths, then this property may not be suitable for your needs.

Weather

While there are distinct seasons, you might experience different seasons in a day so layering is highly recommended It’s always a good idea to pack a light shawl/ jacket during the summer (Apr-Jun) and monsoon (Jul-Sep) months. For the winter months (Oct – Mar) you’ll need a few more layers (thermals / woolens/ down jacket etc). We highly recommend visiting in the winter and spring.
